All six receipts were voided the day the defect was found. The Anarchy Alive! and Stamped passages were re-verified against their own books the same day and carry document-read receipts naming the correct editions. The two Prison Notebooks passages stay unverified until the shelf holds the edition they quote, and the matcher that filed them now refuses any match whose returned work is not the passage's own source.
- How we found out
- A sweep of every citation filing after an exact-text match was caught landing in an anthology that reprints the quoted text. Exact containment proved a quote exists in a book, not that the book is the source; the check that replaced it compares the matched work against the passage's own source before anything is filed.

McLaren's Life in Schools (1989) states its goal as a socialist alternative to capitalism.What replaced it
The 1989 first edition of Life in Schools calls for a new economic ethic that will reshape economic policy in the interests of everyone. The socialist-alternative phrasing belongs to the 2015 sixth edition, whose reprinted 2013 interview also records McLaren saying he would have ruled out such an imperative at the first edition. The movement from the 1989 reform language to the 2015 overthrow language is now documented as its own set of dated claims.
- How we found out
- The editor contested the reading, and instead of arguing the point both editions were read side by side. The paragraph on page 164 that asks for a new economic ethic in 1989 asks by 2015 for a new class struggle achievable only with the overthrow of capitalist society itself. One sentence appears verbatim in both editions, which is how a search hit had been filed against the wrong one.
