Read against the scanned first edition on the archive shelf, printed page 164, PDF page 180. The running head above it reads 'CRITICAL PEDAGOGY: AN OVERVIEW'. The scan breaks 'economic', 'classism' and 'surplus' across lines and those hyphens are closed up here; nothing else is altered. The sentence before this one, that critical educational theorists mostly work outside the orthodox Marxian tradition and 'do not consider capitalism an irrevocable evil', stands verbatim in the 2015 sixth edition as well, so it cannot tell the editions apart. This sentence is where they part. The sixth edition replaces it with a call for 'a new class struggle' achievable 'only with the overthrow of capitalist society itself'.
