Boudin is in this record because she is where the cost is legible. The FBI wanted poster issued on 1 May 1970 sits in the archive’s media library. She had gone underground in March of that year, after the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion killed three of her comrades. They were building a nail bomb intended for a soldiers’ dance at Fort Dix.
In October 1981 she took part in the robbery of a Brink’s armoured truck in Nyack, New York, alongside members of the Black Liberation Army. The robbers killed Peter Paige, a guard, at the scene. They killed Sergeant Edward O’Grady and Officer Waverly Brown at a roadblock afterwards. Waverly Brown was the first black police officer in Nyack.
She served twenty-two years, left prison on parole in 2003, and went on to a doctorate. She took an academic post at Columbia University working on prison education.
