Worker-Student Alliance
AKA: WSA · the Worker-Student Alliance
The Record
The Worker-Student Alliance was the group that carried Progressive Labor’s line inside SDS. Students were to support workers’ struggles on workers’ terms. Campus radicalism that did not do so was self-indulgence.
The difference from the Revolutionary Youth Movement is exact, and the whole fork turns on it. SDS’s paper set the Revolutionary Youth Movement proposal apart from the Worker-Student Alliance on one point: it recognised revolutionary youth as a part of the working class. One side said join the workers. The other said we are the workers.
