Horkheimer’s opening lecture called for work across philosophy and the social sciences. The Institute continued that work after moving to New York in 1934. [1], pp. 38–39, 143–148

During American exile, he and Adorno wrote Dialectic of Enlightenment. The inspected edition includes prefaces to its 1944 and 1947 forms. [3], pp. xiv–xvi

He also wrote the preface to The Authoritarian Personality. He described the study as a joint undertaking of the Institute and the Berkeley Public Opinion Study. [4], Horkheimer preface, institutional-partnership paragraph
