The 1998 Berkeley gathering
The original program was a plan for collective work. It offered panels, workshops and task-force discussions to develop an ongoing campaign. Davis was listed on a panel about the prison industrial complex and the group's goals. (printed pp.2,4,8) [1]
In her later account, Davis described conversations across academic and political boundaries. Scholars, organizers, artists and former prisoners met, while people still in prison joined through video links. (p.xii) [2]
