Cammett-Genovese reception role

John McKay Cammett (1927-2008) was a Columbia-trained historian, labor organizer, and later John Jay College professor and administrator. His award-winning doctoral study became Antonio Gramsci and the Origins of Italian Communism in 1967, the first major English-language intellectual biography devoted to Gramsci. He later founded the international Bibliografia gramsciana.

1967 context

A 1966 Socialist Scholars Conference program identifies him with Rutgers University. The shared Rutgers setting does not prove collaboration with Genovese.
