Overview
A life with several points of entry
Herbert Marcuse was a German-American philosopher, government research analyst and university teacher. His dossier follows wartime and postwar government service [1][2], university teaching [3][4], and later New Left reception .[6] The Institute for Social Research has its own institutional dossier.
His books address culture and political change. His teaching connects him to named students.[5][4] Government records describe research assignments and institutional roles.[1][2] Articles and reprints show particular ways his work reached other writers and readers.[6][7]
