Successor note

Last attested as a single all-Europe division in the Official Register of the United States 1950 (as of May 1, 1950, printed p. 39), with British Commonwealth, Central European, Eastern European, Western European Political, and Western European Economic branches under Chief Richard M. Scammon. By the Official Register 1951 (as of May 1, 1951, printed p. 33) this division no longer appears; its Western and Central European portfolio continued as the Division of Research for Western Europe, and its Eastern European portfolio passed to the new Division of Research for U.S.S.R. and Eastern Europe under Mose L. Harvey, the former Eastern European Branch chief. This is a split between May 1, 1950 and May 1, 1951, not a rename; no exact reorganization date is inferred.
