Marcuse recalls Social Democratic Party membership in 1917–1918 and resignation after the murders of Luxemburg and Liebknecht. He attributes his opposition to the party's alliances with repressive forces, while accepting work within institutions. This is later autobiographical testimony about earlier events, not a contemporary party record.
